Facts About Mice

Aside from cockroaches, the rodent is another one of the most undesirable pests that dwell in our environment. A mouse and mice can also carry some diseases. Moreover, they live on food for humans and pets. Also, the rat and mouse are not fully the same but they are in the same family.

However, the second habit is their constant gnawing which causes structure and property damage.

You'll know you have an infestation when you see mouse droppings or fresh gnawing on structures. Additionally, they have a musky odor and seen occasionally during daylight hours. They are usually gray or brown and have large ears with small eyes.

To eliminate an infestation, here are some techniques that can be utilized:

1. Sanitation - Some mice can survive in small areas with limited food and water, good sanitation won't completely eliminate them. However, poor sanitation will definitely attract and make it easy to dwell in your environment.

2. Mouse Proofing - The best way to prevent an infestation is to eliminate ways for them to enter.

3. Trapping - When there are only a few mice in a building, trapping is a preferred and excellent method. Wooden traps or glue baits are both very effective and can be purchased at Rid Alert. 

   1. Store foods in sealed containers such as glass jars, metal canisters or other resealable, airtight container.

Poison Bates - These are poison baits that kill mice and rats. They can be purchased at Rid Alert and we a variety such as indoor or outdoor baits.

When disposing of dead mice, make sure to observe the following procedures in order to prevent the spread of disease:

• While wearing gloves, place the dead pest in a plastic bag then double it with another plastic bag and tightly seal.

• A good solution for disinfectant is 3 tablespoons of bleach per gallon of water.

• After thoroughly disinfecting any area, traps, gloves, etc. remove the gloves and wash your hands with soap and water.
